Description
Grace is a special needs chihuahua but a real sweetie. She has been diagnosed with Cerebella Hypoplasia which is more common in kittens than dogs. To put the description briefly, it is where the cerebellum of the brain did not develop fully when she was in the womb. The Cerebellum is the area ofthe brain that controls the motor skills. Grace can walk but is very clumsy and falls often. It does not seem to slow her down at all. She just gets up and goes again. When she tries to run she looks more like a little deer hopping around. She does not require any medication since this is not something that can be controlled. She will not get any worse however as she ages she may learn to compensate for it more and hopefully walk better than she does now. Grace was about 2.5 months old when she came into foster care. She has been here at least 6 weeks and was spayed this week. She weighed 5 pounds when she went to the vet for her surgery. She has the longer legs and skinny body and the deer head. She is tan with just a little white. She is very active and had another puppy to play with until he was adopted. She would run and play with him all over the back yard. Grace needs a home that does not have steps since she is so clumsy and might fall down them. The family will also need to accept that she will always be clumsy and not be upset by her falling. We do not place pets on a first come basis. We try to match the pet with the best family possible for their happiness and well being. Sometimes we have to deny people a pet even though they would be wonderful pet owners but the pet they are interested in would not do well in their environment. Adoption fee of $200 is required.An adoption application must be completed and a home check will be done prior to placement. All pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped prior to placement.
